Is it accurate that the Army will stop instruction their recruits to use bayonets?

I was on military.com hunting at Stew Smith’s workout section ( I may be heading to USMC PLC Jrs inside summer) and I saw this posting. Will the Marines comply with suit?

Thanks for that help

Man – the order to “FIX BAYONETS” hasn’t been given for a lot of wars now. Could be they stopped thinking this way. But if you’re smart, you’ll learn to use it on your own anyway.

The order to “Fix bayonets” was given in Iraq by a British Army unit reacting to an ambush before they assaulted across a road.

Soldiers from the 504th PIR, 82d Airborne Division conducted operations in Afghanistan on a few occasions with fixed bayonets as an intimidation factor.

The bayonet is extremely useful in crowd control. It is a very intimidating looking weapon. A well known fact is that a lot of people in Iraq are not really afraid of Americans pointing their weapons at them. They know the ROE just as well as you do and know how far they can push things before things get real dangerous. Slap a bayonet on or pull out an ASP and they straighten up real quick. Hopefully the training is revised but remains in basic training.
